To be present; to stand in the presence of. Ex. indrādi dēvatā gharīṃ puravatī vastu jāta || upatiṣṭhati na cintatā ṛddhi siddha || 3 To arise and come unto (to be enjoyed or endured)--good or evil fortune considered as determined by the moral quality of one's actions performed in former births; to stand up and appear before (quasi, finding the doer out)--one's sin &c.
