Upatēci (உபதேசி) [upatēcittal] 11 transitive verb < idem.

1. To teach spiritual truths, give religious instruction; போதித்தல். [pothithal.]

2. To initiate into the mysteries of ceremonious religion by communicating appropriate mantras; மந்திரோப தேசஞ்செய்தல். உபதேசித்த சித்தியை [manthiropa thesancheythal. upathesitha sithiyai] (திருவிளையாடற் புராணம் அட்டமா. [thiruvilaiyadar puranam attama.] 29).

3. To influence in private, give secret advice; இரகசியமாக இணங்கக் கூறுதல். அவள் அவனுக்கு உபதேசித்துவிட்டாள். [iragasiyamaga inangag kuruthal. aval avanukku upathesithuvittal.] Colloq.
