Tiraya (तिरय).—a [denominative.] derived from tiras, [Parasmaipada.] 1. To stop, [Mālatīmādhava, (ed. Calc.)] 21, 6. 2. To restrain, to conquer, [Prabodhacandrodaya, (ed. Brockhaus.)] 41, 3.
1) Tiraya (तिरय):—[from tiraḥ] [Nominal verb] [Parasmaipada] ([from] ras) yati, to conceal, hide, prevent from appearing, [Mālatīmādhava ix, 30; Śiśupāla-vadha vi, 64; Ratnāvalī] etc.;
—to hinder, stop, restrain, [Mālatīmādhava i, 35; Ratnāvalī] etc.;
—to pervade, [Bālarāmāyaṇa ii, 57.]
2) Tīraya (तीरय):—[from tīra] [Nominal verb] [Parasmaipada] yati, to finish, [Dhātupāṭha xxxv, 58.]
