navavidhābhakti (नवविधाभक्ति).—f (S) The nine kinds of worship (of the Supreme God or of an idol representative of some god). These are śravaṇa, kīrttana, smaraṇa, pāda- sēvana, arcana, vandana, dāsya, sakhya, ātmanivēdana; viz. śra0 Hearing (the attributes, excellencies, or wondrous achievements of, as read or recited); kī0 Reading or reciting (these attributes &c.); sma0 Calling to mind and meditating upon (the names and perfections of); pā0 Washing, kneading, or shampooing &c. of the feet of; a0 Outward worship or common service (consisting in washing, anointing, presenting naivēdya &c.); vaṃ Adoration, or performing namaskāra &c.; dā0 Service in general in or about the temple; sa0 Cultivating fellowship or familiar intercourse with; ā0 Consecration of one's self unto.
