Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionarymissī lāvaṇēṃ (मिस्सी लावणें).—To initiate, or invest with the title to exercise the profession of vēśyā, by rubbing missī over the teeth. This is a rite amongst the kaḷavāntīṇa -females, and is performed by the nāyakīṇa. 2 To perform the ceremony of taking a woman into concubinage.
