The word is asserted to signify also A deep part here and there; and this double sense is explicated by accepting the word as meaning indifferently Intermission or break (khāṇḍa) of the deep water (ḍōha) or by the deep water--a break of the stream by a shoal or of the general shallowness by a deep. This acceptation, however, is erroneous: khāṇḍaḍōha is simply An interrupted ḍōha. Gen. used pl & v paḍa. See an observation under khānōrī cōra.
Marathi is an Indo-European language having over 70 million native speakers people in (predominantly) Maharashtra India. Marathi, like many other Indo-Aryan languages, evolved from early forms of Prakrit, which itself is a subset of Sanskrit, one of the most ancient languages of the world.
