Kaṭaiyar (கடையர்) noun < கடை. [kadai.]

1. Men of the lowest rank or status; இழிந்தோர். கடையரே கல்லாடம் தவர் [izhinthor. kadaiyare kalladam thavar] (திருக்குறள் [thirukkural], 395).

2. Low caste men of agricultural tracts; மருதநிலமாக்கள். [maruthanilamakkal.] (அகப்பொருள் விளக்கம் [agapporul vilakkam] 23.)
