Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionaryjhaṇāṭā (झणाटा).—m (jhaṇa) A heavy and sounding blow (as of or upon a stone). v basa, māra. 2 A twanging or deeply whizzing stroke (with an arrow, ball, bullet). v lāga, basa. 3 The stinging, or the sudden pang of it, of a scorpion. v māra, basa, hō, vāṭa. 4 A coup de soleil, or a blast of heated air. v lāga, basa. 5 A burst or gust of passion. v yē. 6 Freely. Hugeness, vastness, monstrousness, enormousness; excess whether of size, extent, number, quantity, or quality (as sāmpācā-mhaisēcā-mula- kācā-śētācā-pikācā-pāvasācā-unhācā-vāṛyācā- thaṇḍīcā-jhaṇāṭā). Used also in comp. or as a ind, as jha0 sāpa, jha0 mhaisa, jha0 śēta-pīka-pāūsa &c.
