ghāsaṇēṃ (घासणें) [or घांसणें, ghāṃsaṇēṃ].—v c (gharṣaṇa S) To rub, scrub, scour. 2 To rub off. 3 To chide, scold, rate. 4 To discuss, to agitate in argument. 5 To rub or defraud in dealing. 6 To study again and again, to con. 7 To rub up; to practise or exercise diligently. Ex. hīṃ pōrēṃ ghāsalīṃ pāhijēta tēvhāṃ dōna akṣarēṃ yētīla. 8 To rub up or brush up (one's knowledge &c.) ghāsūna ghēṇēṃ To rub (the hands) as in the vexation of disappointed malice. Ex. tūṃ āpalyā gharīṃ ghāṃsūna ghētalēṃ mhaṇūna tyācā kēsa hī vāṅkaḍā hōṇāra nāhīṃ. 2 To suffer (loss, injury &c.) Pr. ghāsūna ghyāvēṃ paṇa hāsūna ghēūṃ nayē Suffer any thing, but incur not public ridicule.
