dvāhī (द्वाही).—f ( H) An exclamation or expression used in prohibiting in the name of the Raja or other high authority; implying an imprecation of his vengeance in case of disobedience. Ex. hēṃ karūṃ nakō sarakāracī dvāhī āhē; tyājavara rājācī dvāhī ghāla. dvāhī is of several kinds or forms; viz. kālakṛta dvā0 Prohibition for a term; sthānakṛta dvā0 Prohibition of change of place; dēśakṛta or pravāsakṛta dvā0 Prohibition of departure from one's own village; karmakṛta dvā0 Restraint from one's ordinary occupation. dvā0 phiraviṇēṃ (-phiraṇēṃ Neuter.) To circulate a proclamation of prohibition (of a matter gen.) For certain phrases see durāhī.
