The sherds occur mainly in low talus all along the river bank in this area. A trial excavation was conducted near Deulpota to trace the pottery bearing layer but nothing tangible was found. At the depth of 2.5 mt below surface red sherds including fragments of lib and bowls were recovered, assignable to the Sunga-Kushan period (I.A.R 1964-65, pp52).
