Asthīkṛtya (अस्थीकृत्य).—ger. (= Pali atthikatvā, °tvāna), paying careful heed to: Mahāvyutpatti 1809. The Pali form is taken by commentary and modern exegetes as for arthīkṛtvā. Our form might be a false Sanskritization of this. But Tibetan rus śiṅ ltar ḥdzin pa, taking hold in persevering (rus śiṅ; but lit. bone-like? rus pa, bone) fashion (alternatively, ched cher ḥdzin pa, taking hold more and more, with intensity). Is the resem- blance of rus śiṅ to rus (pa) bone a mere coincidence? There is, however, a v.l. āsthī°, which suggests derivation from a form of ā-sthā-; compare āsthiti.

context information

Sanskrit, also spelled संस्कृतम् (saṃskṛtam), is an ancient language of India commonly seen as the grandmother of the Indo-European language family (even English!). Closely allied with Prakrit and Pali, Sanskrit is more exhaustive in both grammar and terms and has the most extensive collection of literature in the world, greatly surpassing its sister-languages Greek and Latin.
