1. Destitute persons; பொருளில்லாதவர். அற்றா ரழிபசி தீர்த்தல் [porulillathavar. arra razhipasi thirthal] (திருக்குறள் [thirukkural], 226).
2. Those who have dedicated themselves to the service of God; தம்மை ஒன்றற்கென்றே யொப்படைத்தவர். முதல்வன் பாதத் தற்றா ரடியார் [thammai onrarkenre yoppadaithavar. muthalvan pathath tharra radiyar] (தேவாரம் [thevaram] 396, 10).
