The Garga-samhita Verse 1.2.29, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 2 (Description of the Abode of Shri Goloka) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

श्री-नारद उवाच
उपहास्यं गता देवा
इत्थं तूष्णीं स्थिताः पुनः
चकितान् इव तान् दृष्ट्वा
विष्णुर् वचनम् अब्रवीत्

śrī-nārada uvāca
upahāsyaṃ gatā devā
itthaṃ tūṣṇīṃ sthitāḥ punaḥ
cakitān iva tān dṛṣṭvā
viṣṇur vacanam abravīt

śrī-nāradaḥ uvāca—Śrī Nārada said; upahāsyam—the object of jokes; gatāḥ—attained; devāḥthe demigods; ittham—thus; tūṣṇīmsilent; sthitāḥ—stood; punaḥ—again; cakitān—frightened; iva—as if; tān—them; dṛṣṭvāseeing; viṣṇuḥLord Viṣṇu; vacanam—words; abravīt—said.

English translation of verse 1.2.29:

Śrī Nārada said: Mocked in this way, the demigods were silent. Seeing them intimidated, Lord Viṣṇu spoke some words.
