Source: Wisdom Library: Nāṭya-śāstraAnubandhaja (अनुबन्धज, “growing out of mere succession”) refers to one of the four kinds of vistāra (expansion), according to the Nāṭyaśāstra chapter 29. Vistāra represents one of the four classes of dhātu (stroke), which relate to different aspects of strokes in playing stringed instruments (tata).
According to the Nāṭyaśāstra, “the anubandha-kṛta due to its formation by breaking up, and combining of the groups of strokes described before, is irregular”.
Natyashastra (नाट्यशास्त्र, nāṭyaśāstra) refers to both the ancient Indian tradition (shastra) of performing arts, (natya—theatrics, drama, dance, music), as well as the name of a Sanskrit work dealing with these subjects. It also teaches the rules for composing Dramatic plays (nataka), construction and performance of Theater, and Poetic works (kavya).
