Karmic Astrology—a Study

This page relates ‘Karma in the Varaha period’ of the study on Karmic Astrology and its presentation in Vedic and the later Sanskrit literature. Astrology (in Sanskrit: Jyotish-shastra) is based upon perceptive natural phenomenon of cosmic light forms while the Concept of Karman basically means “action according to Vedic injunction” such as the performance of meritorious sacrificial work.

i. Cause of all Activity

Karma is believed the cause of all activity in this period.[1]

ii. As human actions

In concern with human, Karma is the cause of happiness and unhappiness.[2] Birth, length of life and death is due to past actions is expressed in this period.[3] Evil actions are the cause of diseases, the root of all unhappiness is believed to be Karmas in this period.[4] Birth of various classes is due to deeds as also heaven and hell though heaven is believed as a temporary abode.[5] Mokṣa along with Karma is also a topic of elaborate discussion.[6]
