The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.2.40; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

सेवा यथा —
उपरि कनक-दण्डं मण्डनो विस्तृणीते
धुवति किल सुचन्द्रश् चामरं चन्द्र-चारुम् ।
उपहरति सुतम्बः सुष्ठु ताम्बूल-वीटीं
विदधति परिचर्याः साधवो माधवस्य ॥३.२.४०॥

sevā yathā —
upari kanaka-daṇḍaṃ maṇḍano vistṛṇīte
dhuvati kila sucandraś cāmaraṃ candra-cārum |
upaharati sutambaḥ suṣṭhu tāmbūla-vīṭīṃ
vidadhati paricaryāḥ sādhavo mādhavasya
||3.2.40||

English translation

Their service:
“Maṇḍana holds an umbrella with a gold handle over Kṛṣṇa’s head. Sucanda fans Him with a white cāmara. Sutamba offers betel nut. The anuga devotees serve Mādhava in this way.”
