The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.3.67; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

भिन्नत्वं स्थान-विभ्रंशः कौण्ठ्यं स्यात् सन्न-कण्ठता ।
व्याकुलत्वं तु नानोच्च-नीच-गुप्त-विलुप्तता ॥२.३.६७॥

bhinnatvaṃ sthāna-vibhraṃśaḥ kauṇṭhyaṃ syāt sanna-kaṇṭhatā |
vyākulatvaṃ tu nānocca-nīca-gupta-viluptatā ||2.3.67||

English translation

“Breaking of the voice means failure of the vocal chords to pronounce properly. Weakness means the inability to make any sound. Fluctuation means high, low, indistinct and inaudible tones.”
