अता॑रिष्म॒ तम॑सस्पा॒रम॒स्योषा उ॒च्छन्ती॑ व॒युना॑ कृणोति । श्रि॒ये छन्दो॒ न स्म॑यते विभा॒ती सु॒प्रती॑का सौमन॒साया॑जीगः ॥
अतारिष्म तमसस्पारमस्योषा उच्छन्ती वयुना कृणोति । श्रिये छन्दो न स्मयते विभाती सुप्रतीका सौमनसायाजीगः ॥
atāriṣma tamasas pāram asyoṣā ucchantī vayunā kṛṇoti | śriye chando na smayate vibhātī supratīkā saumanasāyājīgaḥ ||
English translation:
“We have crossed over the boundary of darkness. Uṣas restores the consciousness (of living beings); bright-shining, she smiles, like a flatterer to obtain favour, and, lovely in all her radiance, she has swallowed, for our delight the darkness.”
