श्री-गर्ग उवाच
साम-वेदस्य भावार्थं
गन्धमादन-पर्वते
शिष्येनापि मया तत्र
नारायण-मुखाच् छ्रुतम्

śrī-garga uvāca
sāma-vedasya bhāvārthaṃ
gandhamādana-parvate
śiṣyenāpi mayā tatra
nārāyaṇa-mukhāc chrutam

śrī-gargaḥ uvāca—Śrī Garga said; sāma-vedasya—of the Sāma Veda; bhāva-arthamthe meaning; gandhamādana-parvate—on Mount Gandhamādana; śiṣyena—by the disciple; api—also; mayāby me; tatra—there; nārāyaṇa-mukhāt—from the mouth of Nārāyaṇa Ṛṣi; śrutam—heard.
