जाति-स्मरो विष्णु-भयाज्
जातं जातं जघान ह
इति दुष्ट-विभावाच् च
भूमौ भूतं न संशयम्
jāti-smaro viṣṇu-bhayāj
jātaṃ jātaṃ jaghāna ha
iti duṣṭa-vibhāvāc ca
bhūmau bhūtaṃ na saṃśayam
jāti—birth; smarah—remembering; viṣṇu—of Lord Viṣṇu; bhayāt—out of fear; jātam—born; jātam—born; jaghāna—killed; ha—indeed; iti—thus; duṣṭa-vibhāvāt— out of wickedness; ca—also; bhūmau—on the earth; bhūtam—manifested; na—no; saṃśayam—doubt.
English translation of verse 1.10.13:
Remembering his previous birth, out of his demonic nature and out of fear of Lord Viṣṇu he killed each son as it was born. Of this there is no doubt.
