श्रूत्वा वचः कराभ्यां तं
उज्जहार मदोत्कटः
प्रचण्ड-विक्रमः कंसः
खर-दण्डं गजो यथा
śrūtvā vacaḥ karābhyāṃ taṃ
ujjahāra madotkaṭaḥ
pracaṇḍa-vikramaḥ kaṃsaḥ
khara-daṇḍaṃ gajo yathā
śrūtvā—hearing; vacaḥ—the words; karābhyāṃ—with both hands; taṃ—him;
English translation of verse 1.7.10:
ujjahāra—lifted; mada-utkataḥ—full of pride; pracaṇḍa-vikramaḥ—powerful;
kaṃsaḥ—Kaṃsa; khara-daṇḍam—a lotus; gajo—an elephant; yathā—as.
Hearing these words, with both hands proud and powerful Kaṃsa pulled him up as an elephant pulls up a lotus.
