नाम-ग्रामं न जानीथ
कदा वात्र समागताः
जड-बुद्ध्या प्रहृष्यध्वे
गृहान् नापि विनिर्गताः
nāma-grāmaṃ na jānītha
kadā vātra samāgatāḥ
jaḍa-buddhyā prahṛṣyadhve
gṛhān nāpi vinirgatāḥ
nāma-grāmam—names; na—not; jānītha—you know; kadā—when?; vā—or; atra—here; samāgatāḥ—come; jaḍa—stunted; buddhyā—with intelligence; prahṛṣyadhve—you are happy; gṛhān—homes; na—not; api—even; vinirgatāḥ—having left.
English translation of verse 1.2.27:
You do not even know their names. When did you even meet them? Never leaving your own homes, you remain happy with stunted minds.
