Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationRavisaṅkramaṇa (रविसङ्क्रमण) or Ravisaṃkramaṇa refers to the “period of transit of the sun from one Zodiac to another”, according to Śivapurāṇa 1.15. Accordingly, regarding the benefit in the rites of Devayajña:—“[...] A holy day accords a normal benefit to a pure-souled devotee. O Scholars, the period of transit of the sun from one Zodiac to another (ravisaṅkramaṇa) yields ten times more benefit than that”.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
