The Pallavas of Nellore ruled for nearly two centuries and a half from the middle of the 11th to the close of the 13th. At its smallest, this Pallava kingdom was limited to the Udayagiri area in Nellore district and at its highest included the entire Nellore district and parts of Chingleput and Cuddapah districts. The capitals at different times were Chodapuram, Kanchi, Prodduturu, Nellore and Pentrala. These Telugu pallavas were an independant power and their political achievements great and remarkable entitle them for a prominent place in the political map of contemporary South India.
