In Ayurveda, Shukradhatu is considered as Saar (essence ) of all seven Dhatu and it is meant principally for reproduction. The words ‘Shukra’ is derived from root ‘Shuch’ with suffix ‘Rak’whichmeans pure or excellent. Shukravaha Strotas is main location of Shukradhatu . In male Principle organ of this Dhatu is penis and testis. Shukra sthana in female explains anatomical structure andphysiology of the uterus and associated organs . Shukradharakala is important structure in context to location of Shukradhatu spread all over body. Shukradhatu can be best term to be described as the factor that nourishes both the male and female reproductive tissues and its secretions. Its main function is Garbhotpadana –reproduction. In women the status of Shukradhatu is responsible for regulation of menstrual cycle and formation of ovum. Any deviation in Shukradhatu leads to pathogenesis. Vitiation of Shukradhatu shows Shukradhatu dusti in the form of Vriddhi and Kshaya . This vitiation may leads to infertility. So it is an important entity in context to reproduction.
