This page describes Marriage with Shyama and Vijayasena which is the seventh part of chapter II of the English translation of the Neminatha-caritra, contained within the “Trishashti Shalaka Purusha Caritra”: a massive Jain narrative relgious text composed by Hemacandra in the 12th century. Neminatha in jainism is the twenty-second Tirthankara (Jina) and one of the 63 illustrious beings or worthy persons.
Part 7: Marriage with Śyāmā and Vijayasenā
There Sugrīva was king and he had two very beautiful, accomplished daughters, Śyāmā and Vijayasenā. Vasudeva married them as a reward for winning a contest in the arts and remained there comfortably, sporting with them. A son, named Akrūra, was borne by his wife Vijayasenā to Vasudeva, and he was like a second Vasudeva.
