माया तैर्यग्योनस्य ॥ ६.१६ ॥
māyā tairyagyonasya || 6.16 ||
Deceitfulness (māyā) causes the influx (āsrava) of karmas which lead to life (āyuḥ [āyus]) in the animal and vegetable world–tiryañca. (16)

अन्वयार्थ: [माया] माया-छलकपट [तैर्यग्योनस्य] तिर्यंचायु के आस्रव का कारण है।

Explanation in English from Ācārya Pūjyapāda’s Sarvārthasiddhi:
The influx of life-karma leading to birth in the infernal regions has been described. Now the influx of life-karma causing birth in the animal world must be explained.
Deceitful disposition of the soul caused by the particular conduct-deluding (cāritramohanīya) karma produces the influx of life-karma which leads to birth in the animal and vegetable world–tiryañca. The preaching of religion from a perverted attitude, lack of good conduct and propriety, desire for cheating others, blue (nīla) and grey (kāpota) thought-colouration (leśyā) with sorrowful-concentration (ārta-dhyāna) at the time of death are the varieties of deceitful conduct.
