It is the country in the south of the mountain chain of Himavān parvata and surrounded by ocean on the other three sides. It is in the shape of a bow. It is divided into six regions by the mountain chain of Vijayārdha parvata and the two rivers, Gaṅgā and Sindhu. In the north of (small) Himavān parvata and south of Mahāhimavān parvata, and surrounded by ocean in the east and the west, is the Haimavatavarṣa (Haimavatakṣetra). In the south of the mountain chain of Niṣadha parvata and north of the Mahāhimavān parvata, and surrounded by ocean in the east and the west, lies the Harivarṣa (Harikṣetra). In the north of the mountain chain of Nīla parvata and south of Rukmī parvata, and surrounded by ocean in the east and the west, is the Ramyakavarṣa (Ramyakakṣetra). In the north of the mountain chain of Rukmī parvata and south of Śikharī parvata, and surrounded by ocean in the east and the west, is the Hairaṇyavatavarṣa (Hairaṇyavatakṣetra). In the north of the mountain chain of Śikharī parvata, and surrounded by ocean on the other three sides, is the Airāvatavarṣa (Airāvatakṣetra).
