Naimittika Pujas

The special ceremonies with special festivals are called naimittika pujas. In some special occasions or festival days the deity is worshipped, more ceremoniously and on a grand scale. These pujas are performed on the auspicious days.[1] The month, day, star, etc., in which naimittaka puja has to be performed, are prescribed clearly in agamas[2]

The pujas performed on the auspicious days are called naimittika puja. Naimitta puja is performed only after the completion of and without any hindrance to nitya puja. However, the time for nitya puja and naimittika puja becomes concurrent both pujas are performed jointly.[3]
