Munnur Temple as Feeding Centre

Feeding the needy was considered a dharma of the state. Therefore, temples served as feeding houses. Priest’s temple servants and students were fed in these temples besides ascetics, pilgrims, devotees. The needy like the deserted, the deprived and the disabled were also provided food in these temples on the festive occasions. On festival days or on special occasions food offerings were made in great quantities in these temples including Munnur temples. These food offerings were called Iraibali. These food offerings were given on the eclipse days, new moon days, Sankaranti days.
