Temple as the maintenance of system

Temples served as the irrigation systematic maintenance of system of the neighbouring region. For instance a record[1] of Kulottunga II mentions that fifth shutter of the Abhimana Meru Canal is capable to irrigate more than 16 saduram of cultivable land. The record also reveals that the temple authorities in addition to the ritualistic duties they looked after the systematic irrigation facility of the temple devadana lands and the temple was being a centre for its well organized self governance and productivity centre for agricultural products of the Munnjur village.
