Sri Valmikanathaswamy Temple

This Siva temple was at Cheyyur built 800 years ago by the Chola kings on about 65 cents of land. The presiding deity is a Swayambu Lingam. The hereditary Gurukkal conducts three poojas daily. He has been given service inam lands; he can also take the offerings of the devotees. There are movable properties. It gets an annual income from its immovable properties. The Brahmothsavam celebrated in the month of Thai attracts a crowd of about 200.

The temple is under the management of a hereditary trustee. The Archaeological Department has published a book about inscriptions in this temple.[1]
