Champakeswaraswamy Temple

The village, Parameswarimangalam is 22 miles from Madurantakam railway station and can be reached by bus. There the presiding deity Swayambu Lingam is Sri Champakeswaraswamy. The temple was built about 500 years ago and covers an extent of one acre. Copper plates with inscriptions relating to the temple are available. The hereditary Gurukkal performs two poojas daily in the morning and evening. He is in the enjoyment of 3.33 acres of temple lands and is entitled to take the offerings of the devotees. The income from these lands is substantial. The recipients of service inams perform their duties properly. Festivals are celebrated on Chithra Pournami and Arudhra dharsanam in Margazhi. About a hundred persons attend these festivals. A trustee is managing the affairs of the temple.
