Sri Valavettamman and Sri Ponniamman Temples

Sri Valavettammati and Sri Ponniamman Temples are at the village of Morapakkam which is three miles from the Madurantakam railway station. The Valavettamman temple was built 500 years ago and the Ponniamman temple about 100 years back. Both the temples cover an area of five cents. The priest lights the lamps daily after an ahishekam. The annual income from lands is insignificant. There is a fifty year-old Simha vahanam. No regular festivals are celebrated; but when devotees desire and are prepared to meet the expenditure, festivals are conducted.
