Part 1.3 - Description of Bhitor Sokam

Bhitor Sokam is a religious ceremony is conducted in the month of Jeth every year. They observe this for the wellbeing and prosperity of the family. The function is performed within the house in a corner of the kitchen. Worship of their tutelary God, Lord Shiva is done in this ceremony. The head of the family wears a white dress and offer a hen, duck, xereka, pithaguri, akhoi, sandah and payash to Lord Shiva within the house. Since the ritual of this is performed inside, it is known as Bhitor Sokam.’[1]
