According to Hindu iconography, one of the attributes of Brahma is the ladle, used for pouring ghee into the sacrificial fire at the time of yaja. A fine example of a ladle can be seen held by Brahma in the Varaha panel of the Varaha-mandapa at Mamallapuram (fig. 366).
