The Gurupurnima day is observed in the Asar Shukla Purnima.It is observed as the birthday of Vedavyasa (a saint). Guru means the master. They believe that guru destroy the evil power of society and spread the light of knowledge to all. On this day, they respect the Gurus by offering them some food and gifts. They imagine Bedyabayas as their guru on that particular day.
