A Philosopher’s Stroll

B. Siddharth

There was this philosopher who went to a park,
Which was bright and lovely, not cold and dark.
And profound were his ideas on wisdom and life,
happiness and sadness, unity and strife.
As he strolled around, on his walk,
He saw a lovely flower next to a hard rock.
And thought well enough,
That life is full of experiences both sweet and tough.
One must not fear the bitter ones, one must be bold.
As for every bad experience, there is one as good as gold.

So as he proceeded on his walk,
He saw a tall tree with many a fruit in its stock.
One must always strive hard to succeed he said.
The fruits of hard work are forever juicy, ripe and red.

With a calm mind as he moved ahead,
What he saw made him stall.
Two children playing with a bouncing ball.
Life is full of ups and downs,
One should be prepared for the worst at anytime.
And as the philosopher continued with his thoughts about life,
He met in the park his friend and wife.
But the main purpose of this poem after all,
Is that a tree is just a tree; a ball is just a ball.
One must enjoy life as it is brought.
Life is wonderful but life is short.
The simplicity of life one must understand.
The complications are in our own hands.

‘Alas! I have explored Philosophy and Law and Medicine and over deep Divinity have pored, studying with ardent and laborious zeal. And here I am at last, a very fool, with useless learning  Curst. No wiser than at first.’
