Dr. K. V. Raghupathi
In utter silence pervading the moon-lit night sky
white crispy wooly naked clouds
seem to be basking in the cool light like
Gopikas in a pond in sheer divine ecstasy
The stars seem to be overpowered by the light
no wind, no motion of trees
no gyration of insects
I stare and glare
For a while I am doused in her tickling sensations
Wait, I told her
I have something to ask you
about the secrets of your beauty.
Let me go in and come
A while after, I slipped out
Where are you, the Princess?
You defied my supplication
When eyes are meant for seeing
Why ask for secrets of beauty to be revealed
Beauty has no excuse for you
who miss it every moment.
From a distance
or near
you are a mere piece of stone
with an image engraved
Speechless, you are lifeless
you are nothing
Yet, you are worshipped
with coconuts, flowers and camphor
by both wise and wicked
How mistaken you are:
When the sun is eclipsed
darkness reigns supreme.
