The Sattwic Type

Jibendra

I am a conscious seeker of the Infinite,
Knowing all the limitations of my natural being.
I am as free from the cravings and desires of the vital type
As from the inertia and stupidity of the physical man.
I am egoistic but not like these; I know
How to hold the balance even between the extremes.
But the quest is long and arduous and
I must have faith and patience
So that one day God’s grace may descend on me.
An aspiration ardent, unfailing and constant
And a sustained cheerful effort characterise
The spiritual seeker that I sincerely aspire to be.
I have the humility to admit that I am
As yet far from the goal; many a hurdle
Has to be crossed and many a danger and difficulty
Faced on the way and reliance must be on God.
It is in this spirit that I seek the Divine
And leave the rest to Him.
