A Message of Hope

C. Jinarajadasa

Says one poet:
“Despair was never yet so deep
In sinking as in seeming;
Despair is but hope dropped asleep
For better chance of dreaming.”

I have been deeply interested in Triveni, since it has stood for a certain high standard in modern literature in India. I have known all the ups and downs, the anxieties and disappointments, which have been the lot of the Editor, and have admired both his patience and endurance. It is evident that certain activities at the moment do not call out the necessary co-operation from the cultured classes of India. This is indeed a. calamity, but it seems to be “in the order of the day”. I still hope that the effort of Triveni will come to success.
