The duties are : 1 st, Achelalaya or abstinence from raiment: some hold white clothes not to come under the prohibition; 2 nd, Auddesika, living in the society of pious hermits; 3 rd, Sayyatara, abstinence from bedding; 4 th, Rajapinda, abstinence from rich dishes or the society of the kings and great men; 5 th, Kritikarma, society of pious men ; 6 th, Vratani, frequent special, but optional, fasts; 7 th, Purusha-jyeshtha, conduct like seniors ; 8 th, Pratikrama, morning and evening exercise; 9 th, Masakalpa, avoidance of attachment likely to result from constant association with any object; 10 th, Paryushana, uniform occupation of the same abode during the currency of the fast.
