Hari-līlā is a brief indication of the contents of Bhāgavata,
while the Harilīlāviveka is a commentary on the same. The
author of the text is Boppadeva. He is the son of Bhiṣak
Keśava, grandson of Mahadeva and a disciple of Dhaneśa.
Kesava or Bhisakkeśava was a doctor and has written
several books on medicine, on one of which, viz., Siddha-
mantra, Vopadeva has commented.
Vopadeva has composed ten books in Sanskrit grammar,
nine books in medicine, one book in Dharma śāstra, three
books in Sanskrit literature and three books regarding
the contents of Bhāgavata.
वस्य व्याकरणे वरेण्यघटनास्फीताः प्रबन्धा दश
प्रख्याता नव वैद्यकेऽथ तिथिनिर्धारार्थमेकोऽद्भुतः
साहित्ये त्रय एव भागवततत्वोक्तौ त्रयस्तस्य भु.
व्यन्तर्वाणिशिरोमणेरिह गुणा के के न लोकोत्तराः ||
[vasya vyākaraṇe vareṇyaghaṭanāsphītāḥ prabandhā daśa
prakhyātā nava vaidyake'tha tithinirdhārārthameko'dbhutaḥ
sāhitye traya eva bhāgavatatatvoktau trayastasya bhu.
vyantarvāṇiśiromaṇeriha guṇā ke ke na lokottarāḥ ||

It appears that Hemādri was his patron and commenta-
tor. Vopadeva has composed some works under the
orders of Hemādri, the author of Caturvargacintāmaṇi
and the minister of King Mahadeva.
विद्वद्धनेशशिरेण भिषक्केशवसूनुना ।
हेमाद्रिवोपदेवेन मुक्त | फलम चीकरत् ॥
[vidvaddhaneśaśireṇa bhiṣakkeśavasūnunā |
hemādrivopadevena mukta | phalama cīkarat ||

It is interesting to note that Hemādri, the Minister of
king Mahadeva, had some association with one Rāmarāja.
हरिलीलाविवेकोऽयं रामराजस्य वेश्मनि ।
[harilīlāviveko'yaṃ rāmarājasya veśmani |
] Ibid.
निकटे रचयांचके तुष्टयै हेमाद्रिणा सताम् ॥
[nikaṭe racayāṃcake tuṣṭayai hemādriṇā satām ||
] It is not known whether Hemādri was a minister
both to Mahādeva and Rāma in different times, or whether
Mahadeva was also known as Rāma.
