Part 2.1d - Anāhata cakra (The heart centre)

“Unstruck sound”. The fourth psychic centre, indicated physically by the heart anāhata cakra is situated in the suṣumnā nāḍi (sukṣma centre). It has control over the heart. It corresponds to the cardiac plexus in the physical body. This corresponds to mahar loka. The cakra is of deepnet colour. Within this cakra there is a hexagonal space of smoke or deep black colour or the colour of collyrium (used for the eyes). This cakra is the centre of vāyu maṇḍala region of air, (vāyu tattva). From here twelve yoga nāḍis emanante which appears the petals of the lotus. The sound that produced by each nāḍi is represented by the following Sanskrit letters–kam, kham, gam, gham, gnam, cam, cham, jam, jham, jñam, tam and ṭham. The vījākṣara yam, the Vīja of vāyu is here. The presiding deity is Iśa (Rudra) and devatā is kākini. In the mūlādhāra cakra there is svaymbhu liṅga and in anāhata cakra we have baṇa liṅga. Kalpa vṛkṣa, which gives all the desired things, is here. Anāhata sound the sound of Śabda Brahman is heard at this centre. When a yogī does śīrṣāsana for a long time, he can distinctly near this sound. Vāyu tattva is full of sattva guṇa. Viṣṇu granthi is in this sthāna.

He who meditates on this cakra has full control over Vāyu tattva. He gets bhūcari siddhi, khecari siddhi, kāya siddhi etc. (flying in air, entering the body of another). He gets cosmic love and all other divine sāttvic qualities.
