The evil signs of certain marks on the face, hands, feet etc. of a woman have already been discussed earlier. To remove such marks, she was sprinkled after reciting each verse of the hymn, nirlakṣmyam.., etc. (1.18), starting at braid of hair from the right side.[1] Then, an offering of chaff was made and chaff, husks, refuse of grains were placed by the side of her left foot.[2]
