When something in question is spoken of as having become undistinguishable from something else on account of similar qualities, there is Sāmānya or Sameness.[1] In the verse, nidadhe savidhe śrutervadhūbhi[2] ……., there is the mention of the state of undstinguishibility of the Campaka flower, gold ear-rings, the temples and cheeks of a maiden. This is because of the similar quality of the white colour of each of them. Hence, the example under discussion stands as an illustration of the figure Sāmānya. Another noteworthy example of this figure is–ramaṇī caraṇaṃ dadhatyaśoke[3] ……..
