The Sivaprakasam is a 14th century Tamil text belonging to the Shaiva-Siddhanta literature dealing with the spiritual aspects of human life, such as bondage and liberation of the individual self. The Siva-Prakasam (or Shiva-prakasha) consists of 100 stanzas (verses) spread over two parts. The first part deals with the embodied condition of the self...

In order that the individual self is reminded of the importance of the surrender along with its gross body and actions—just like the crystal remains under sunlight—it is enjoined to count the name of Lord Shiva.

“Did you not accept on that day when you took me as your bondman the three things - the body, its belongings and myself? How can there be any obstruction to me, now? I don’t find any compensation for your kindly act. You have made me Shiva accepting my weaknesses etc.”—Tiruvacakam
