Shaiva Siddhanta with special reference to Shivaprakasham” by Dr. S. Gangadaran, an earlier work on Shivaprakasham , is adapted for developing the aspects. The work of “Shaiva Siddhanta ” in German by Dr.H.W.Schomerus, later translated by Mary Law gives a vivid account of this philosophy and the aspects of bondages and liberation thereof is generally discussed therein. The work of“A Logical Presentation of The Shaiva Siddhanta Philosophy ” byJohn H. Piet enlightens on these aspects in general way. The work of “Shaivism In Philosophical Perspective ” by Dr. Sivaraman deals with these aspects in general way with reference to the system. The work of “Shaiva Siddhanta ” byV.Paranjoti also generally deals with this aspect. All these works were submitted by the respective authors for fulfillment of the degree of doctral / post– doctoral requirements.

The book of “An Enquiry Into The Nature of Liberation ” by Alex Watson,Dominic Goodall and S.L.P.Anjaneya Sarma gives a clear idea on the aspects of liberation. The works of Dr. V.A. Devasenapati, “Shaiva Siddhanta ” and “Of Human Bondage and Divine Grace ” also bring out the aspects of bondage and liberation. K.Vajravelu Mudaliar has written a commentary on SivajnanaMapadiyam and this also helps in understanding the subject.

Commentaries on Shivaprakasham are also taken as primary source for this work. Other works of the author, Umapati Shivam, have helped in understanding the concept. Many other essays and papers published in various philosophical journals are also adapted as necessary.
