This thesis traces the history of the Sanskrit drama in Kerala produced from the 9th century A.D.

centres round Vajrapura. The time at which the drama comes
to a close is not indicated. Thus the drama takes nearly
two days and two nights.

Kālidāsa's 'Sekuntale seems to have exerted pro-
found influence on the dramatist as can be seen from the
following instances.
Pradyumnabhyudaya
1. Pradyumna enters the
Pramadavana adjoining the
lake Kamalini. He is
suffering from pangs of love.
Cool breeze blows. Pradyumna
who is sick on account of the
pangs of love enjoy the
refreshing touch of the breeze
and remarks that it can be
embraced by limbs affected
by Cupid.
Sakuntala
King Dushyante enters the
grove in a love effected
condition. feels the
touch of the breeze and
remarks that the breeze fra-
grant with lotuses and
wafting the spray of the
ripples of Malini can be
closely embraced by limbs
inflamed with love.
